Olney
history includes the period in the late 18th century when the poet William
Cowper came to live here by invitation of the then curate the Reverend
John Newton. In collaboration they wrote the Olney Hymns, the most famous
being "Amazing Grace" and Cowper completed many famous literary
works including "The Task" and "John Gilpin"
The
Lindens Guest House, formerly the home of the Brewers, the Hipwell family
